We are deeply saddened at the passing of Robert Pastor on January 8. As a Peace Corps volunteer, Fulbright scholar, policymaker, and academic, his was a life dedicated to fostering greater understanding and harmony across the Americas and throughout the world. His unflagging advocacy for a more integrated, innovative and prosperous North America and a broader partnership across the entire Western Hemisphere is a legacy that lives on. Secretary Kerry’s upcoming meeting with his Mexican and Canadian counterparts next week is a testament to this legacy of greater integration and collaboration that Dr. Pastor so avidly championed. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and the many people who admired his vision and passion.
