The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative called The Collaboratory. The Collaboratory is a platform for conducting virtual exchange programs and housing an idea lab to develop, incubate, and pilot new ideas that amplify people-to-people exchanges using new technologies.

The Collaboratory's virtual exchange team will utilize new technologies to enhance ECA's in-person exchanges, including the Fulbright Program, the International Visitor Leadership Program, and many others, extending the connections of the cultural and educational programs and magnifying their impact. These virtual exchanges will extend the connections made in traditional exchange programs, encourage project collaboration among exchange participants, and engage new communities in the United States and around the world.

The Collaboratory's new idea lab will leverage technology and public-private partnerships to design and execute cross-cutting projects in educational and cultural affairs. The idea lab is expected to be a home for cross-cutting educational and cultural projects that leverage technology and public-private partnerships, such as digital storytelling projects or new ways to use open educational resources.

For more information on ways to get involved and work together, please contact the ECA Collaboratory at ECACollaboratory@state.gov.
