Dr. M. Eugenia ‘Jenny’ Verdaguer is Chief of the Western Hemisphere Fulbright Branch in the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. In that capacity, she oversees academic exchange programs across the region, formulating, planning, managing, and executing Fulbright and other ECA sponsored programs.

A product of international exchange, Dr. Verdaguer has over 24 years of progressive experience in the nonprofit, academic and public sectors, developing, evaluating and administering education and research programs. Before joining ECA in 2007, she directed the Bachelor of Individualized Study Program at George Mason University and, from 2000 to 2005, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at The Catholic University of America. Earlier in her career, she advised the Organization of American States on education initiatives and managed international programs at the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation. Dr. Verdaguer holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Buenos Aires and Mount Holyoke College, an MA in international relations and a Ph.D. in sociology from American University. She has lectured at various local universities and has published on Latino immigrant communities, gender, and entrepreneurship in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
