Date: 09/15/2013 Description: Hispanic Heritage Month 2013: Emili Kuchler - State Dept Image Emili Morales-Kuchler has been working for the Federal Government as a civil servant since 1995. She has served as a clinical social worker with the Department of State, Office of Medical Services, Child and Family Program, since 2012. She is originally from Panama.

She studied clinical social work at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA. She completed both her bachelor’s of arts in social work, BASW (Cum Laude) and master’s degree in social work, MSW, at Eastern Washington University (2002).

Throughout her social work career, Emili has worked in the Department of Defense primarily with the United States Army, but has also worked with the United States Air Force and the United States Navy in many roles as a family support program specialist, transition assistance program specialist/manager, spouse employment counselor, mental health and addictions counselor. Prior to joining MED, she served as VA liaison for healthcare with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Healthcare Administration. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Of her job, she says: “I feel a great sense of responsibility in fulfilling the mission of providing support and assistance to DOS families and children with special needs throughout the world.”

Ms. Morales- Kuchler considers Gig Harbor, WA home. In her times of leisure, she enjoys reading, dancing, volunteering, and traveling. Emili would like to learn Portuguese in the near future. She is also very interested in becoming more involved in international social work through education and advocacy.
