The La Idea Business Competition is looking for innovative business partnerships between U.S. and Latin American entrepreneurs that grow small businesses and create jobs. Ten businesses will receive a coveted spot in the competition’s Finalist Showcase, to be covered by Univision Media, where they will pitch their idea live in front of a panel of celebrity judges and participate in a multi-day program of exclusive meetings and networking events with prominent business leaders and investors. Winners will receive a prize of $50,000 and tailored business support services.

La Idea is extending the deadline for the competition to September 20, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Interested entrepreneurs can find more information and application materials at www.laidea.co.

With generous support from La Idea partners, a few select applicants who submit their application by August 1 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be eligible for a package of tailored legal support, IT services, business planning advice, and promotional support from a network of leading business professionals. We encourage entrepreneurs to visit www.laidea.co and join the La Idea community at https://www.facebook.com/laideaonline.

La Idea is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Boom Financial, Inter-American Development Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Small Business Administration, Univision Media, WellSpace, Accion, and FHI 360.
