Mr. David Wade is the Chief of Staff to Secretary of State John F. Kerry. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Wade manages the Secretary’s staff and provides policy, communications, and managerial support to the Secretary in administering operations of the Department. He also provides guidance to department bureaus with respect to the Secretary’s views, concerns, and initiatives.

From 2008 to 2013, Mr. Wade served as Chief of Staff to then-Senator John F. Kerry. Throughout these years, Senator Kerry served as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Immediately prior to serving as Kerry’s top Senate aide, Mr. Wade was the National Spokesman and Communications Advisor for then-vice presidential nominee United States Senator Joseph R. Biden.

Over many years on Capitol Hill and in national politics, Mr. Wade served in a variety of assignments for then-Senator John Kerry including Speechwriter, Press Secretary, Communications Director, Deputy Chief of Staff, and National Traveling Press Secretary for Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign.

A Connecticut native, Mr. Wade is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, a 1996 Harry S. Truman Scholar, and 2010 John C. Stennis Fellow.
