Thomas Countryman, Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, will travel to Slovakia, Switzerland, and Croatia, April 18–May 8, to attend several high-level international political meetings on key global security concerns.

On April 19 in Bratislava, Slovakia, Assistant Secretary Countryman will speak at a plenary session of the GLOBSEC conference, which provides a platform for more than 500 high-profile security and foreign policy figures from governments, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to discuss international security topics.

April 22–May 3, Assistant Secretary Countryman will lead the U.S. Delegation to the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) meeting, of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which will take place in Geneva under the chairmanship of Romanian Ambassador Cornel Feruta. It is the second meeting of the cycle that will culminate in the 2015 NPT Review Conference.

May 6–7, Assistant Secretary Countryman will address participants of NATO’s annual nonproliferation seminar in Split, Croatia. The seminar is NATO’s largest nonproliferation outreach event, for which participants from over 70 countries have been invited to discuss topical nonproliferation issues.
