Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues Stephen J. Rapp and Acting Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Don Yamamoto will brief the press on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 12:30 pm, on the expansion of the War Crimes Rewards Program. The briefing will be on-the-record/ on camera and will take place in the Department of State Press Briefing Room (Room 2209).

On January 15, 2013, President Obama signed into law the Department of State Rewards Program Update and Technical Corrections Act of 2012, S. 2318. Under the War Crimes Rewards Program, the Department of State offers awards of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest, transfer, or conviction of designated foreign nationals accused of crimes against humanity, genocide, or war crimes by any international, mixed, or hybrid criminal tribunal.

The remarks will be open to the press.
Final access time for press: 12:15 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
