Brief description of call: The World Bank Group’s work in development is a win-win opportunity for U.S. companies engaging commercially overseas and for countries investing in their future. This teleconference will highlight the new U.S. Government pilot initiative to expand U.S. private sector support for infrastructure development projects in 9 countries (Brazil, China, Colombia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Turkey). The speakers will talk about the basics and some of the finer points regarding the World Bank procurement process, especially as it relates to U.S. SME’s. Participants will have the unique opportunity to pose questions to the U.S. Executive Director to the World Bank, Ian Solomon, his advisor and an expert from the IFC.
