Public diplomacy is about people-to-people bridge building. And we are in a time in the world where people really matter in policy terms. You can’t have policy without people or you would have policy flying blind. So public diplomacy in a time when citizens and nations are evolving and changing becomes a critical part of national security. In many ways, public diplomacy is the intersection of communications and information and international policy. So we’re navigating in new space with new technology but with citizens playing an active role in the global conversation.
