Topic: Infrastructure and Investment Opportunities in Northeast Brazil

Host: Principal Officer Usha Pitts

Date, time, time zone for call: Tuesday, November 13, 2012; 11:00 a.m. EST (8:00 a.m. PST)

Brief description of call: With the largest economy in Latin America and strong growth prospects, Brazil offers new opportunities for American businesses. The focus of the call will be on Northeast Brazil, which boasts a population of 40 million people (the size of Argentina) and an economic growth rate that outpaces the Brazilian national average. Factors that drive growth in the Northeast include billions of dollars of public investment in new infrastructure projects, including those related to the 2014 soccer World Cup, ports expansion along the Northeast coast, and road and rail construction. During the teleconference, Principal Officer of the U.S. Consulate in Recife Usha Pitts will address these and other investment opportunities in Northeast Brazil. Questions are welcome in advance sent to DirectLineRecife@state.gov. The webinar will also include a live Q&A session between Principal Officer Pitts and callers.
