The United States would like to congratulate Dr. Lassina Zerbo on his selection as Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. Dr. Zerbo, in his capacity as Director of the International Data Center, has displayed the management skills, technical skills, and diplomatic acumen needed for the position of Executive Secretary. We commend Dr. Zerbo on his willingness to take on the important tasks of the Executive Secretary when he assumes the role in August 2013, and his readiness to address the challenges that will face the PrepCom in the years ahead.

The United States would also like to express our appreciation to Ambassador Tibor Toth for his many years of dedicated service to the organization. We look forward to working closely with the new Executive Secretary in continuing to build the Treaty’s verification regime and moving towards an early entry into force.
