On Friday, September 28, the Office of Public Liaison in the Bureau of Public Affairs held a Foreign Policy Classroom program in Manhattan at The New School, in partnership with their Graduate Program in International Affairs. This event took place during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which had currently been underway in New York City. Approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate students attended from a variety of New York schools, including Barnard, Brooklyn College, Columbia, CUNY, Fordham, King’s College, Manhattan College and The New School. Esther Brimmer, Assistant Secretary for International Organization Affairs, delivered keynote remarks, giving an overview of the State Department’s work and priorities at UNGA. Following her remarks, Aaron Snipe, the Spokesperson for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, spoke on the priorities in the Middle East and North Africa, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in the region.
