Initial Design Team Shortlist Announced for Paris Residential Annex
The Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has shortlisted three design teams for the new residential facility in Paris, France.
The shortlisted teams are:
Allied Works Architecture
Mack Scogin/Merril Elam Architects
Michael Maltzan Architecture, Inc.
Forty-five firms responded to the public notification for prospective offerors to compete. This initial shortlist of offerors will assemble their technical teams and submit detailed information on their organization and qualifications for the Stage 2 evaluation.
The shortlisted submissions presented a high level of design excellence, innovative site and landscape designs from other projects, and strong sustainability experience. Each presented a diversity of projects, which showed strong and complex, yet thoughtful solutions.
The new residential annex will be constructed on a U.S. government-owned property located in a central urban neighborhood that is near the U.S. Embassy and will include an underground parking garage. The project design is subject to local historic preservation controls.
This project is the second solicited under OBO’s Design Excellence program. With design excellence, the approach to project development and delivery seeks to utilize the best methods, technologies, and staff abilities to produce facilities that are outstanding in all respects.
OBO’s mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities for the conduct of U.S. diplomacy and the promotion of U.S. interests worldwide. These facilities should represent American values and the best in American architecture, engineering, technology, sustainability, maintainability, art, culture, and construction execution.
