Meeting of the Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy
The Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP) will meet on Thursday, June 14 at 1:30 p.m. in Room 647 of Annex Building 44 of the U.S. Department of State. The State Annex 44 Building is located at 301 Fourth Street, SW, Washington, DC 20547. The ACICIP serves the U.S. Government in a solely advisory capacity regarding current issues and concerns in international communications and information policy. The public and members of the press may attend this meeting as seating capacity allows.
Ambassador Philip L. Verveer, United States Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, and ACICIP Chairman Thomas Wheeler will host the meeting.
The June 14 meeting will include these discussions:
- Discussions pertaining to various international telecommunications meetings and conferences, as well as bilateral meetings that have taken place recently.
Committee discussion of key issues of importance to U.S. communications policy interests including
- Recent public-private efforts to train international communications professionals and regulators from the developing world;
- Recent private sector advisory efforts focused on the information and communications technology aspects of international disaster response; and
- Human rights and economic issues related to the Internet.
Admittance to the State Department Annex 44 building will be by means of a pre-arranged clearance list.
