U.S. Coordinator for Threat Reductions Efforts Visits Addis Ababa
Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins, the U.S. Coordinator for Threat Reduction Efforts, will visit Addis Ababa from April 25-27. During her visit, she will meet with EU-African Union (AU) Ambassador Quince and counterparts at AU Peace and Security, and the Institute for Security Studies (ISS).
While in Addis, Ambassador Jenkins will meet with Ethiopian officials to discuss shared areas of concern related to nonproliferation, discuss the Nuclear Security Summit, and coordinate on upcoming nonproliferation events.
At the ISS, Ambassador Jenkins will participate in the Ambassador’s forum, where she will review the outcomes of the recent Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul and discuss other international security issues, including the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction (Global Partnership).
Ambassador Jenkins will also engage with media on the margins of her visit to highlight the role of the Global Partnership in the Africa region, to include U.S. and international threat reduction efforts.
The United States and the AU are partners in peace and security. Ambassador Jenkins’ visit will help further this partnership and seek future opportunities for collaboration.
