"On Friday, April 20th, Karen Decker, the Deputy Director for the Office of European Security and Political Affairs in the Bureau of European Affairs, spoke to approximately 70 high school and college students about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Her remarks touched upon a variety of aspects regarding NATO, including its role in a post-9/11 world, the importance of NATO in advancing U.S. Foreign Policy priorities and why NATO matters to the American people. These remarks were given as a run-up to the upcoming NATO Summit, which will take place in Chicago from May 20-21.

Students for this program were from a variety of schools, including Delaware State University, George Mason High School in Virginia and Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. Karen Decker was introduced by Jon Tollestrup, a Public Affairs Officer in the Bureau of Public Affairs."
