Date: 02/01/2012 Description: Black History Month 2012: Jasmine White - State Dept ImageJasmine White currently serves as the political and public diplomacy officer at the U.S. Mission to the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Having worked extensively on diversity and racial inclusion issues during her youth, Jasmine knew she wanted a career that allowed her to create opportunities for exchange and dialogue between varied groups and communities.

With this in mind, she entered the Foreign Service in September 2010. After graduating from Florida A&M University with a B.A. in political science, she completed her graduate studies at The Maxwell School at Syracuse University, where she received both a master’s in public administration and master of arts in international relations.

As a public diplomacy officer, Jasmine hopes that her outreach with international communities helps to enhance their view of the United States and the diversity reflected in the U.S. Foreign Service and the Department of State.
