Date: 11/15/2011 Description: 2011 Veterans Month: Frank Garcia - State Dept Image Frank Garcia joined the Army ROTC in 1997. He attended military school, which included basic training, at Fort Knox, Kentucky and advance training at Fort Lewis.

After earning a BA in accounting from UPR in 2001, and a second lieutenant commission that same year, he was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas as a training officer where he served for six months.

Soon after, he completed advanced nuclear biological, chemical (NBC) and HAZMATH training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was then assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, serving under the 4th Infantry Division, and later 1st Cavalry Division as an NBC officer.

In 2004, he was deployed to Iraq to serve with the Task Force 2/8 CAV as an NBC and human annalists officer.

Upon returning from serving in Iraq in 2005, he left his captain rank for civilian duty.

He is now a senior passport specialist at the New York Passport Agency (CA-PPT-NY). He also serves as a TDY consular officer on temporary consular duties at overseas post; his most recent duties being at embassies and consulates in Mexico and Argentina.
