Date: 11/15/2011 Description: Celebrating Veterans Day 2011: Verena Sander - State Dept ImageVerena Sander is an EEO manager in the Diversity Management and Outreach Section of the Office of Civil Rights, U.S. Department of State. She joined the Department in September of 2005. Prior to her current position, she spent over 20 years on active duty in the Army where she held various supervisory HR positions culminating in a division chief position at Ft. Bragg, NC, where she was responsible for the health, welfare, conduct, and performance of over 50 soldiers. In 1995, she attended the 16-week Equal Opportunity Advisors’ Course at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute at Patrick AFB, FL. Since then she’s held equal opportunity and diversity related positions on the Army Staff, the Secretary of Defense’s staff, and served as the equal opportunity advisor for two commanding generals. Her assignments included the 25th Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield, Barracks, HI; Alpha Detachment, 18th Personnel Service Battalion, 18th Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC; HHC, 193rd Support Battalion, Ft. Clayton, Panama and the 7th Army Training Command, Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Ms. Sander is a certified EEO counselor and investigator. She’s also attended basic mediation training and is certified as an instructor/facilitator.

Ms. Sander received her B.S. in criminal justice from Park College and her M.A. in management from Webster University.
