QUESTION: What is the US position on the UNESCO-Obiang International Prize for Life Sciences that is under deliberation by a UNESCO committee?

ANSWER: The United States has consistently stated our objections to the prize and our concerns about Equatorial Guinea’s human rights record. We are working with concerned and interested parties in Paris to find a solution that protects UNESCO's integrity and preserves its reputation within the scientific community.
