Question: Who has the United States been speaking with the recent housing announcements in Gilo? Did the Israeli government give the United States a heads up about this prior to yesterday?

Answer: The Secretary laid out our views on the new construction in Gilo very clearly. We have made our position clear in private and public. We remain engaged with senior Government of Israeli leaders regarding our effort to move back to direct negotiations, and the issues that affect this effort.
