Libyan Embassy: Status of Bank Accounts (Taken Question)

Question: What is the status of the money in the bank accounts controlled by the Libyan Embassy in Washington?

Answer: We have approved the re-opening of the Libyan Embassy and are waiting for Ambassador Aujali to return to the United States on an A1 visa. Once he returns, he will be accredited and receive appropriate authorization to access the Libyan Embassy accounts, which were frozen when we suspended the Embassy’s operations.
