From April 18-20, 2011, Dan Reifsnyder, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Environment in the Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science, traveled to Moscow to discuss ways to advance shared objectives on environmental issues with Russian government and NGO representatives under the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission's Environmental Working Group. In an effort to highlight for Russian citizens the constructive engagement taking place between the U.S. and Russia, he planted a tree at an eco-friendly elementary school and spoke with students at the Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering (MSUEE). Deputy Assistant Secretary Reifsnyder was joined by representatives from the U.S. National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
