Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew J. Shapiro Travels to France, Germany, and Azerbaijan
Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Andrew J. Shapiro will travel to France, Germany, and Azerbaijan June 18-25, 2011, to meet with senior civilian and military officials to build on diplomatic initiatives aimed at meeting shared security challenges.
In Paris, June 19-20, Assistant Secretary Shapiro will hold consultations on defense trade issues, as well as join senior U.S. government officials from multiple agencies and members of Congress in attending the Paris Air Show.
In Stuttgart, June 21-22, Assistant Secretary Shapiro will meet with leaders from U.S. African Command and U.S. European Command to discuss ongoing regional operations, and efforts to expand regional partnerships in security assistance, peacekeeping, and counter-piracy.
In Baku June 24, Assistant Secretary Shapiro will lead the U.S. delegation to the U.S.-Azerbaijan Security Dialogue. The Dialogue will focus on international security issues and aim to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of maritime security, counterterrorism, border security, and nonproliferation.
