Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Hannah Rosenthal will recognize the work of Father Patrick Desbois, President of the Yahad-In Unum Association of France, with a Tribute of Appreciation certificate on Thursday, May 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the Treaty Room of the U.S. Department of State. Father Desbois will deliver remarks and screen a short film about his efforts.

Father Desbois has dedicated his life to countering anti-Semitism, advancing Catholic-Jewish relations, and identifying previously unknown Holocaust-era mass graves. Since 2001, he and his team have identified the remains of over one million Jews and Roma in almost 1,000 mass graves across Eastern Europe. As the years march on, there is even more urgency to complete Father Desbois’ project to provide witness and evidence of the unprecedented killings of the Holocaust.

This ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM on May 12 in the Department of State’s Treaty Room. Pre-set time for cameras: 9:15 a.m. Final access time for all press: 9:45 a.m.

Media representatives may attend the event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver’s license, passport.)
