The inaugural meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) will take place on January 6th and 7th, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Gregory Hotel, located at 2033 M Street N.W., Washington, D.C. The meeting will end approximately 5:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

The meeting will be hosted by Ambassador Eric Goosby, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, and Deputy Coordinator Paul D. Bouey.

The Board serves the Global AIDS Coordinator solely in an advisory capacity concerning scientific, implementation, and policy issues related to the global HIV/AIDS response. These issues influence the priorities and direction of PEPFAR evaluation and research, the content of national and international strategies and their implementation, and the role of PEPFAR in the international discourse regarding appropriate and resourced responses. Agenda topics for the meeting include an overview of PEPFAR-funded evaluations, priority setting within HIV/AIDS care, treatment and prevention, and recommendations to the Ambassador on the future direction of evaluation and research under PEPFAR.

The public may attend this meeting as seating capacity allows. While the meeting is open to public attendance, the Board will determine procedures for public participation and announce those procedures at the meeting.
