Berenice Mariscal is a Foreign Service officer currently serving in the visa office of the Bureau of Consular Affairs where she helps manage the public inquiries unit. She previously worked as a staff assistant in the Front Office of the Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureau. She was able to gain valuable insight into policymaking and crisis management during this time as the Department responded to the Haiti earthquake and the Honduras coup. She greatly enjoyed her tours as a consular officer in Athens, Greece, and Bogota, Colombia.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Berenice was a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. She earned a B.A. in economics from Harvard University. Berenice was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and immigrated with her family to Texas. She is bilingual in Spanish and speaks fluent Greek.
