On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of the Central African Republic on the 50th anniversary of your National Day this August 13.

The United States values the partnership we have developed with the Central African Republic. Our people are united by shared commitments to self-determination, the rule of law, and the importance of a thriving civil society. Be assured of our continued support and encouragement as you move toward a new era of democracy and good governance. Your continued resolve to overcome serious security and humanitarian challenges, engage in peace and reconciliation efforts, and collaborate with international institutions will lead to a more stable and prosperous future for your nation.

I wish all Central Africans a safe and joyous National Day celebration and look forward to continuing our close cooperation to build a brighter future for both our countries.
