Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg and Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Jacob J. Lew will participate in a Statesmen’s Forum sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on Thursday, August 5, from 10:30 to noon.

Deputies Steinberg and Lew will address “The Next Phase in America’s Relationship with Iraq,” focusing on the transition from a military to civilian-led partnership under the leadership of the State Department. They will discuss planning initiatives that will help ensure the continuity of U.S. foreign policy objectives and the safety and security of State Department and civilian personnel throughout Iraq.

Former Deputy Secretary of State and CSIS Trustee Richard Armitage will introduce the event, which will be moderated by Stephen Flanagan, CSIS Senior Vice President and Henry A. Kissinger Chair.
