July 28, 2010

On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Vanuatu on the 30th anniversary of your independence this July 30. Our countries are united by shared democratic values and many mutual interests. We work closely together to advance women’s rights, promote peace and security, and protect fisheries and the environment while combating climate change. The United States is committed to strengthening our partnership with Vanuatu and the Pacific region on these and other issues, and we look forward to enhancing our cooperation in the months and years ahead. On this festive occasion, I offer my warmest wishes for a happy holiday and a prosperous year to all the people of Vanuatu.
