Ambassador Luis CdeBaca, who directs the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, will travel to Belgium and Spain July 21-28, 2010. The Ambassador will discuss opportunities for increased partnership in the global effort to combat modern slavery with government officials, law enforcement, and civil society.

Ambassador CdeBaca was appointed by President Obama as Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the Department of State, where he serves as a Senior Advisor to Secretary Clinton and leads the United States’ global fight against contemporary forms of slavery. The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons develops and implements the State Department’s policy for the protection of trafficking victims, prosecution of traffickers, and prevention of trafficking.
