On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the Mongolian people on your 89th National Day this July 11. Mongolia’s transformation to a thriving democracy is an inspiration to people around the world struggling to establish democracies in their own countries. I witnessed the courage and leadership of the Mongolian people on my first visit 15 years ago when your democracy was still new, and today I am proud to once again celebrate your history and reaffirm the bonds between our nations. I wish all Mongolians a safe and happy holiday celebration and continued peace and prosperity in the coming year.
