Washington, DC

Question Taken at the June 16, 2010 Daily Press Briefing
June 16, 2010

Question: Did Ambassador Benjamin cancel a scheduled counterterrorism meeting with Turkish officials in Istanbul today? If so, why? What was the purpose of the meeting? If canceled, when/will the meeting be re-scheduled?

Answer: The bilateral counterterrorism meeting scheduled for Ankara was postponed because the U.S. was not able to participate in the meeting at this time. Turkey is a valuable counterterrorism partner, and we anticipate that the meeting will be rescheduled.
