The Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs will hold its annual conference of economic officers January 13-15, 2010, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Economic officers serving at U.S. embassies throughout the Western Hemisphere will gather to discuss the U.S. regional economic agenda. This year’s conference will focus on energy and climate change initiatives, progress on Summit of the Americas initiatives, and the U.S. trade agenda.

Puerto Rico was selected as the site of the conference because it is at a crossroads for business, commerce and culture between the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to attending meeting sessions, economic officers will visit thriving local industries and engage in outreach activities to local organizations and schools.
