Assistant Secretary Arturo Valenzuela Travels to the Southern Cone

Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo A. Valenzuela will travel to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay December 13 through 18, 2009. This will be his first trip to South America as Assistant Secretary. He will discuss a range of issues with leaders and publics, including democracy, citizen safety, and ways to improve economic and political conditions. He will also consult widely on the shared hemispheric agenda of building a better future through enhanced social opportunity.
