Question: What is U.S. Government policy regarding the United Kingdom’s Congestion Tax?

Answer: U.S. Government policy regarding the Congestion Tax has not changed. This is longstanding U.S. Government policy and is not affected by a change in Ambassadors.

The Congestion Tax is prohibited by various treaties, including the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations; the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations; our 1951 bilateral Consular Agreement with the United Kingdom; and the NATO Status of Forces Agreement.
