The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations and the Bureau of Administration announced the award of a $117.1 million contract to build a New Embassy Compound (NEC) in Belgrade, Serbia.

The NEC in Belgrade will be constructed by Framaco International, Inc. of Rye Brook, New York.

The project will consist of the construction of a chancery, a support annex, Marine Security Guard quarters and three compound access control facilities. The NEC will provide safe, secure and functional facility for 400 employees who will work at the embassy.

The 10 acre site located at Bulevar Kneka Aleksandra Karadjordjevica 92 in Belgrade was purchased from the Serbian Government for $15.1 million in 2007.

The NEC will replace the existing embassy which was built between 1936-37. The proposed completion date for the Belgrade NEC is 2011.
