Date: 06/14/2012 Description: President's Young African Leaders Initiative Summit logo (PYALI) - State Dept Image The Innovation Summit and Mentoring Partnership brought more than sixty participants representing nearly every sub-Saharan African country for three weeks of professional exchange and entrepreneurial hands-on training. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton welcomed participants on June 13 in the George C. Marshall Center at the Department of State.

Dates and locations: The Innovation Summit in Washington, DC ran June 14-15 and featured sessions with inspirational business leaders and entrepreneurs. After the two-day conference, participants began the Mentoring Partnership and traveled to business internships in Seattle, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Miami, Huntsville, Denver, Chicago, or Cincinnati. Two weeks in U.S. cities provided hands-on experience in the American workplace and exposure to cultural aspects of American life. This training aims to enhance U.S.-Africa collaboration to promote business innovation, investment, and social responsibility activities in Africa.
