On December 28, 2012 and December 31, 2012, a number of claimants filed Notices of Intent to Submit Claims to Arbitration, alleging that U.S. government regulators failed to protect claimants’ investment by neglecting to stop the Stanford Ponzi scheme in a timely manner. Claimants seek at least $39.7 million (according to one notice) and at least $8.7 million (according to the other) for alleged violations of Article 10.3 (national treatment), Article 10.4 (most-favored-nation treatment), and Article 10.5 (minimum standard of treatment).
