Investment Climate Statements

PROVIDING INFORMATION ON INVESTMENT CLIMATES WORDWIDE

Investment Climate Statements provide U.S. firms with country/region and economy-specific information and assessments prepared by the State Department's posts abroad on investment laws, measures and other factors that may be useful to them in making business decisions. They can also serve as indicators of where reforms in investment policies would be likely to attract further investment into a country.

OIA annually disseminates Investment Climate Statements for more than 170 countries.

Business Registration

PROMOTING BUSINESS REGISTRATION GLOBALLY

Facilitating business registration globally stimulates entrepreneurship, saves entrepreneurs time and money, reduces corruption, increases the size of the formal sector and generates more tax revenues to finance sustainable development. OIA created a global partnership to build the Global Enterprise Registration platform (GER.co), which features links to every business registration website in the world in one location, along with ratings of each website’s user-friendliness. This helps governments identify best practices and simplify procedures, which benefits entrepreneurs and investors everywhere.

Visit GER.co to learn about the “Go Green by 2017” campaign to have simple, online business registration processes everywhere by 2017.

Regional and Multilateral Coordination

ENGAGING REGIONAL AND MULTILATERAL ORGANIZATIONS TO ENCOURAGE SOUND INVESTMENT POLICIES

OIA leads U.S. Government engagement in several regional and multilateral fora to encourage open investment policy, discourage protectionist policies, and advance U.S. views on investment rules and good governance to create an enabling environment for investment.
