Headed overseas? Take the time to prepare to change cultures. Why bother? Because successfully adapting to a new location brings:

  • new experiences, friendships, and adventures;
  • improved language skills, self-esteem, self-awareness, and health;
  • self-confidence, a positive mood, and stress reduction; and
  • a global perspective and greater intercultural sensitivity.

You may already have many of the skills needed to sail through an overseas move (bearing in mind that sailing involves sudden changes of directions and unexpected ups and downs). In many ways a relocation, no matter how exotic, resembles other challenging situations you may have faced.
